Facebook Groups For Bloggers

If you’ve been blogging for any length of time, I’m sure that you’ll agree- Blogging can be a lonely road.

Especially when you are just starting out and don’t know what you’re doing.

You might be looking for someone who can relate to your struggles. Or maybe you’re looking for a friend or mentor to ask questions, vent to, or even just share your blogging experiences with.

This is where Facebook groups come in!

Facebook groups are virtual groups created on Facebook ( you guessed it!). They are spaces where like-minded people come together, share ideas and network with each other.

I believe that Facebook groups are the best-kept secret in the blogging community.

It was only a few years ago that I discovered the magic of Facebook groups.

I was directed to a group after signing up for a newsletter.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first joined, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lively community of bloggers sharing and genuinely helping each other out. This is something I had been longing for since i first started blogging.

You see, I previously would have cringed at the thought of blogging Facebook groups. All I knew them to be were forums where people traded spammy favors such as like for like and follow for follow.

Those groups get on my nerve.

The results from these groups are vanity metrics. They don’t last and don’t offer any real results for your blog.

The Facebook groups I found (and the groups I recommend below) are nothing like that.
These groups are well managed, easy to navigate, and hard on those who break the rules.

Why Should You Join A Facebook Group?

Facebook groups have a few major benefits for bloggers.

They Are Great For Networking

Networking is so important as a blogger and entrepreneur. It is one component of how we can gain visibility for our brands.

We talk a lot about networking in the online community but no one ever gives you step by step instructions on HOW exactly you should be networking?

  • Where do you start?
  • Where do you find people to network with?
  • How do you even build connections?

Networking is important because you can also develop relationships that can lead to business partnerships and much more.

In the online space and especially since COVID, it has been virtually impossible to network in person.

Facebook groups are the answer to this need. A great Facebook group provides a community that members can network within.

They Help You Boost The Engagement On Your Content

Some Facebook groups allow members to share their content for engagement. This is a great way to boost traffic to your blog and get extra eyes on your content.

It also gives you an opportunity to look at other blogger’s content.

You Can Find Answers To Your Questions

We all know that when it comes to blogging, there’s a lot to know. It’s difficult to keep up with all the technology, terminology, and changes that take place.

Having a community that you can go to when you have a question is invaluable.

Paid vs Free Facebook Groups

When it comes to groups on Facebook, you’ll either find Free or Paid groups.

A free Facebook group, as its name suggests is a group that anyone can join for free. You may need to answer some questions or download a freebie to gain admission to the group.

A paid Facebook group is a Facebook group that is associated with a paid program or service.

For instance, when I took the Boss Gram Academy course, one of the bonuses was the Facebook group where you could connect with other BGA students.

Paid Facebook groups are such a great opportunity to network and many of my first paid clients came directly from those groups.

People who are willing to invest in themselves have already shown a commitment to invest in their business so you do not have to do much convincing to get them to buy into your service or idea.

Free Facebook groups often get a bad rep.

The problem with free Facebook groups is that it is free. Anyone can join them and there is little screening before the host accepts a member to the group.

This basically means that you can have a group of people who are just freeloaders and up to no good.

You get people shoving their content down your throat and notifications that don’t seem to stop.

Not all free Facebook groups are bad though.

Great Free Facebook Groups are hard to find, but when you know what groups have a good reputation, you can join them with confidence, knowing that you’ll be able to grow your blog without much stress and overwhelm.

Free Facebook Group Best Practices, The Dos and Don’ts

Before we get into the list of Facebook groups, I thought it would be important to go over a couple of Facebook group do’s and don’ts.

Remember To…

1. Introduce yourself

The first thing you want to do when you join a group is to introduce yourself.

A lot of groups will have a welcome post where new members are encouraged to comment and introduce themselves under. Please use this- You’ll never know who will take notice of what you do or say and come to you for guidance.

2. Give more than you receive

The best Facebook group members are those who are givers rather than takers.

If everyone comes to the group with this mentality, everyone is guaranteed to benefit from the group dynamics.

3. Obey the group rules

Most Facebook groups have their rules clearly written in the group description.

Before you join, you have the opportunity to read the rules. Many Facebook group owners require that you acknowledge reading the rules or affirm that you’ll follow the rules.

In any case, these rules are there to help make the group experience more enjoyable for all members.

Avoid doing the following…

1. Rude Behaviour

This goes without saying, but you’d be surprised how many comments I’ve seen where people are giving feedback in a very condescending way.

The best Facebook groups do not tolerate this type of behavior.

2. Spam

Facebook groups often have specific threads for collaboration or where you can share your offer, blog post, or any other content to promote yourself.

Above all, make sure that you pick Facebook Groups that align with your brand.

Think about your audience. Where are they likely to be hanging out?

The Best (FREE) Facebook Group For Bloggers

I’ve done the work of researching the various Facebook groups for bloggers so that you don’t have to! These are the best groups on Facebook to join if you are a blogger looking to network and collaborate with other bloggers.

These groups are all active in 2021 and have a positive and supportive environment.

Boss Girl Bloggers

This group was created by Ell Duclos, the blogger behind the blog with the same name- Boss Girl Bloggers.

This Facebook group is a place where bloggers from various niches can come together to interact, collaborate and help each other with their growing blog success!

With over 45k members (and growing), this is one of the largest blogging communities for female bloggers out there. Even though there are so many members, I find the group to still be quite organized.

You’ll generally find members ask blogging-related questions. I find the discussions to be quite engaging. No matter the question, there’s someone to provide an answer.

This is a great Facebook group for experienced bloggers as well, as you can use this as an opportunity to show off your expertise (and potentially find clients too).

Blogging for New Bloggers

This Facebook group has been around for about 4 years and has over 36k active users (and growing).

Like its name suggests, Blogging for new bloggers is a Facebook group for beginner bloggers. The group was treated with the main purpose of being a supportive community where bloggers connect and grow together.

Members can share tips, offer feedback, have discussions, and foster collaboration.

In this group, you’ll also find daily promo threads to help you grow your blog and social media following.

Every day has a theme:

Monday: Facebook Followers

Tuesday: Re-Pin

Wednesday: Sharing is Power

Thursday: Blog Post Comments

Friday: Promo Friday

Saturday: Social Media Following

Sunday: Blog Post Comment and Shares

Becoming a Blogger

Becoming a Blogger is an online business + blogging group hosted by Cate Rosales from SweetandSimpleLife.com.

This group also allows members t promote their content through daily promo threads.

Every day of the week has a theme.

Monday: Instagram

Tuesday: Twitter

Wednesday: Blog Post

Thursday: Pinterest

Friday: Facebook

Saturday: Weekend Wildcard

Sunday: Collaborate

If you like to use Facebook groups as part of your content strategy, keep track of the days of the week that interest you, so you can come back on those days to engage in the promo thread.

The Smart Blogging Approach

This is a free Facebook group hosted by Ana of thesheapproach.com. The goal is to help bloggers connect with each other, learn and grow their blogs strategically.

This is not a group where you can promote your blog. It’s main intent is to be a learning hub. So if you have a blogging question, you can ask away and one of the other 2.2k members will respond to your question.

Bloggers Supporting Bloggers

This group is a place to ask questions, share knowledge and make connections for your blog. Like it’s name suggests, it’s a group all about helping other bloggers.

With daily promo threads, it’s a great opportunity for new bloggers to get more engagement on their content.

Here’s the schedule for the promo threads:

MONDAY – Blog post thread & Weekly discussion thread.

TUES – Facebook

WED – Pinterest

THURS -Twitter

FRI – Instagram

SAT – Favor thread

SUN – Blogger of the Week

The threads get a good amount of engagement. You don’t have to worry about other members ignoring your content. Just make sure to follow the rules and reciprocate.

Grow Together: SEO, Link Building, and Outreach

SEO and link building are really important strategies when it comes to growing your blog traffic. This Facebook group allows you to collaborate with other bloggers and find link-building opportunities.

It’s also a great group to join if you’re looking to learn more about link building for your blog. There are many experts in this group. Whatever questions you have, I’m sure you’ll be able to find an answer.

Bossfluence

A Facebook group by Mattie James. She teaches influencers how to create content & handle business.

This group has highly engaged members. You’ll find everything from tips to people sharing their challenges and even their latest victories.

I find the support and comradery in this group to be contagious. It’s truly a community that supports each other.

Pinterest For Beginners

Blogging and Pinterest go together like…

  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Bonnie & Clyde
  • Hot chocolate & marshmallows

You get the point.

Pinterest for beginners is a Facebook group where you can expand your knowledge on all things Pinterest.

What makes this group unique is the fact that the owner, Melanie Boyd goes live on a regular basis. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about Pinterest and get the latest tips and tricks to help you boost blog traffic using the magic of Pinterest.

Members are engaged and there’s generally someone available who can answer any interest or blogging-related questions that you may have.

Pinterest Ninjas

Pinterest Ninjas is another Pinterest group specifically for bloggers. The purpose is to help boost each other’s pins/Pinterest profiles and Social Media following.

Promotions are only allowed on Tuesdays. If you are interested in this, mark it in your planner.

Growing Social Media For Bloggers

The purpose of this group is to give women bloggers an opportunity to grow their social media reach and drive traffic to their blog.

This group has been around for over 6 years, but is still pretty active with new posts on an almost daily basis.

Should be noted that this Facebook group is for female bloggers only.

Are you a part of any of the Facebook groups mention in this blog post? Why do you love Facebook groups so much?

A common objection I hear people give to starting a blog (or sharing their knowledge online) is...
Feeling the need to achieve some sort of 'expert status' before they can start sharing.
While knowledge and experience in your niche is crucial, imposter syndrome can often leave us feeling that we don't deserve a platform.
There are different types of experts and the fact that you have some experience and knowledge means that you are a couple of steps ahead of someone else. You might just be exactly what they've been looking for.
You don't need to be an expert to start, but you do need to start to be an expert!
I'm interested to know your thoughts on this!

Can I be honest with you?
This month marks one year since I started my business/ side hustle in earnest.
One year on, I’m nowhere near where I thought I’d be.
I envisioned life as successful working mom with a side hustle (You know team #multiplestreams 😁)
I figured I would get home everyday, feed my family, work on my business and still have time to fuel my spiritual, physical and social life.
Needless to say, a lot of my goals fell to the wayside as I figured out how to juggle it all.
Instead of feeling dissatisfaction and disappointment, I feel pride.
Proud about the fact that I tried something hard and still I’m standing.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you don’t always have to measure your success by your to do list or external metrics.
Life on this side of reality is messy, but if you keep at it, you’ll find the joy you’re looking for. Just don’t give up.
Let me know in the comments if you’ve had a similar experience.
