Do you struggle with insecurities and self doubt?
As Christians, our confidence is in God. Yet the burdens of day to day life can cause us to lose track of the realities in Gods word.
Affirmations are a simple, yet effective way to build up your confidence and self-esteem. Biblical affirmations are grounded in scripture and align with God’s design for our lives.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of letting my feelings determine the trajectory of my life.
The Bible says that we ought to “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11
These scripture-based affirmations will equip you for the battle against self-doubt and insecurities. When the random thoughts start to pop up, combat them with one of these affirmations.
This simple practice will help you to internalize God’s word and build your confidence in Christ.

The Power Of The Tongue
We know through scripture that our words have power.
From the fruit of a man’s mouth his stomach is satisfied; he is satisfied by the yield of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Proverbs 18: 20-21
Scripture also tells us that as a person thinks in his heart, so is he.
In other words, what we think determines what we become.
Our thoughts and our words have the power to change the trajectory of our lives.
But far too often we allow our thoughts to wander. We allow random thoughts to take root in our lives and determine how we feel and show up in the world.
We need to put more thought into what we are thinking about and renew our minds with God’s word.
Affirmations work by bringing to your forefront mind certain thoughts. By focusing on these thoughts you can renew your mind and introduce your mind to a new way of thinking about the world.
Affirmations are not just positive thoughts. An affirmation is a declaration that something is true.

Biblical Affirmations vs Worldly Affirmations
Biblical affirmations are different from worldly affirmations.
The key difference between biblical affirmations and worldly affirmations is the fact that ‘worldly’ affirmations place the focus on self.
When non-Christians use positive affirmations, it is generally in an attempt to get something. They put themselves at the center and proclaim these affirmations as a way to bring success.
These affirmations are completely self serving.
While biblical affirmations may seem to do the same thing, they are grounded in scripture.
By aligning your thoughts with scripture, you renew your mind to see things in the way that God sees them. The truth also is that when done with humility, biblical affirmations are about recognizing the sovereignty of God. We need to understand as Christians that works will never be enough.
Our existence is dependent entirely on His grace and we exist for his glory.
Affirmations are most effective when you can proclaim them over yourself. As Christians, we have the privilege to intercede on behalf of others. These scripture based affirmations will help you too intercede for your children, friends, family members.
What Does The Bible Say About Self-Esteem And Confidence?
We often think about self-confidence as something that is ‘worldly’ and not of God. Don’t confuse confidence with pride.
Pride places the focus on self. It is the result of overestimating yourself. Confidence on the other hand is the result of understanding your own abilities and limitations.
I like to think of it in this way. As a child of God, my confidence is in God and not in myself. I know my abilities. But I also know the abilities of my Father- the ultimate creator.
I don’t depend on my own abilities because they pale in comparison to what God can do through me.
Confidence is ultimately a good thing- when you know where to place your confidence.
Blessed is the one who trusts in God. Whose confidence is in him. 2 Jeremiah 17:7
Our efforts alone will only get us so far. It is God who will take us all the way.
Our job is to do our best and trust in God to do the rest, focusing on the grace of God over the hustle.
